#.042 (Atlanta Contemporary Art Center), Inkjet Print, 21.5x31.5"
In the context of One Standard Unit, a unit is defined as a single image of art documentation. These units have become one measure of an artwork's value and can be exchanged for social capitol as they make their way into the world of images.
The works in One Standard Unit rely on the institutional framing of their eventual presentation to build a visual vocabulary of the gallery space and metaphysically reference their own documentation. In this way, the existence of these images also creates their own inflation.
One Standard Unit is made in serial iteration, wherein the earliest image becomes a component of the next image, and that image becomes a component of the following image, so on and so forth.
